My Addiction Series:
Part 2
The BLIND will SEE
While editing the main image for this series, I suddenly noticed something that stopped me in my tracks. The character bent over under the heavy burdens of addiction looked somewhat like me. It was an eye-opener and, to be honest, somewhat of a shock to realize that the broken man I was looking at was a reflection of me as a young man. I am not here to judge or belittle anyone. I am here to give a helping hand. I understand the struggle – I know what you are fighting! Your life is not easy, and breaking the cycle of addiction is not something you can always do on your own. Even today, as we “speak”, God is dealing with things within me that have taken priority in my life when they never should have been important at all… The struggle is real, and it can be painful at times, but there is hope – there is Light at the end of the tunnel!
It’s been a while – not that I want to give my age away – almost 25 years ago, I was the one stranded and stuck in addiction and a really bad cultural mindset. It was never my intention to become bound by addiction, but it happened, and the sad reality is that there are plenty of us out there – lost in ourselves – lost in addiction. Especially drinking – as our culture has much more of an open heart towards drinking and calling being drunk good and socially acceptable… Our youth are bound to be entrapped in an alcoholic culture.
I don’t know your story, but I can make a guess that you are here for a reason… I promise you that you’ll be fine, and God’s mighty hand will save you and set you FREE!!! If you want that for yourself, He is faithful to not forget or overlook your suffering.
So, what is NOT Addiction?
Some would say that it is as simple as > Just put it down, but if you can do that, it never was an addiction.
What is real addiction?
We are talking about that vice – that SIN/Transgression (mindset, belief system, porn, sex, alcohol, Hard Drugs, Weed, lifestyle, toxic relationships, pleasing others, etc.) that you keep on returning to. You might not know it’s wrong at the moment, but when you are done – the aftermath is not always such a great reality. Why then do you have an unsettling feeling deep within you? That is you, your soul crying out from within, crying out for freedom and a breakthrough.
Your behaviors and life choices are like a moth to a flame; it pulls you in, and you do not have any control. Yes, congratulations to those who have such great constitution that they never ever fall or fail, but we normal people stumble on a daily basis… Addiction is real!
For some, ADDICTION is actually a mental disorder – the programming got corrupted. We have to be real and admit that not all families have homes – some families are more like a battlefield, and the ones that get left behind are the children, which in turn become dysfunctional adults themselves and fall easily into all kinds of traps of addiction.
It is time to be real… We are broken, and the only way to get healing is by full surrender at the cross.
How to get your breakthrough?
Simple, today, right there where you are, you need to decide one thing; do you need help or not! For any and all addiction patterns, it starts with these words: “I am addicted to …” No healing can take place until you can’t be real with yourself and admit that you have a problem.
I sincerely want to see you live a life of FREEDOM and hope you can at least just think about this and ponder about this today. It is a hard pill to swallow, but it will be the best choice you have made in a long while…
